John Paff
Hi, I'm John
— a retired Special Operations Veteran and career firefighter who found a third calling in helping others heal.
I’ve seen the best and worst of humanity. Three military deployments, countless critical incidents, and years in the fire service taught me what strength looks like — and what happens when it breaks. I’ve lived it… and I’ve learned that no one gets through life untouched.
After my own struggles, I realized two truths: I wasn’t alone, and there weren’t enough people speaking up for mental health — especially in high-stress professions. That realization, and a nudge from faith, led me to become a counselor.
Professional Background
I earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of the Cumberlands (2020).
I’ve worked in veteran recovery hospitals, addiction treatment centers, and Christian counseling centers — helping individuals rebuild their lives one step at a time.
As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC in Florida) and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC in Alaska), I use evidence-based modalities like CBT, EMDR, ART, and alternative-based PAT (Psychedelic Assisted Therapy) to help clients manage emotions, heal trauma, and regain control of their lives.
A Life of Service
Being of Service is the thread that ties everything together for me. Whether operating in a combat zone, responding to a fire, or sitting across from someone in pain — the mission has always been the same: to help people get back on track.
I’ve traveled the world, witnessed crisis and recovery, and learned that resilience isn’t about avoiding struggle — it’s about facing it, growing stronger, and building unshakable character.
Faith, Family, and Purpose
I’m a man of faith, a husband, and a proud father of two daughters.
Born and raised in Florida, I spent 26 years in Alaska before returning home. Those experiences — from the frozen north to the Florida heat — shaped who I am: grounded, grateful, and driven to make a difference.
When I’m not counseling, you’ll find me spending time with family, exploring the outdoors, or being in fellowship with others who want to live with purpose and clarity.
My Mission
My goal is simple: to help you reset, refocus, and rebuild.
No matter what you’ve been through, there’s always a way forward. You don’t have to do it alone.
